INNERSECT: 6 minutes to show you the global trend culture brought by Edison Chen

INNERSECT Global Trend Culture Experience Exhibition Main Vision

INNERSECT Global Trend Culture Experience Exhibition

From October 5th to 7th, 2017, the INNERSECT Global Trend Culture Experience Exhibition, which was created by Edison Chen as the creative director, kicked off at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Hall, providing an opportunity for domestic street enthusiasts to get in touch with the latest international trend culture. INNERSECT is derived from the word "Intersect" of "intersecting and intersecting", which is taken from the meaning of "Inner", thus changing "t" to "n", which means to explore and perceive with the heart, and jointly create and define new trend culture. Internationally renowned tattoo artist DR. WOO was invited to design the main visual of this event. Its design concept is close to the core connotation of this exhibition. The three circles represent art, technology and music respectively, thus condensing into fashion elements, which are also the four main contents of this exhibition.

The strong involvement of the technology media

When it comes to the update and evolution of technology and art, digital media exploration is essential, and it is also one of the hot spots in the cultural industry in recent years. In this "Innersect Global Trend Culture Experience Exhibition", there are many artworks created using VR technology, such as the VR work "Domestika" brought by American artist Jabolby Satterwhite from Moran Bondaroff Gallery in Los Angeles. The most eye-catching is undoubtedly the black box stage built by well-known Japanese new media artist Daito Manabe at the exhibition site, which regularly displays the live performance "Phosphere" combining sound and light technology with experimental dance. The artist, who stunned the world with his AR work "Eight Minutes in Tokyo" at the closing ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil, has been choreographed by three modern dancers with laser induction capture technology, creating a futuristic experimental art space under the cool and misty lights and sharp bass effects created by 36 projectors. In an interview, Masuke himself said that he and his creative team have been specializing in the development of digital imaging technology for more than 15 years, and he has been working on augmented reality for live dance performances for more than seven years. He has been able to break through the shallow space of traditional stage settings and complete a visual scene with a sense of depth. On the basis of current digital conditions such as VR technology or three-dimensional imaging technology, Manabe makes full use of laser effects to virtually cut the real space, under the guidance of the dancer’s graceful posture, to bring the audience a stunning on-site sensory experience.

The Contemporary Character of Traditional Art Fashion

When it comes to literary and artistic fashion, the "present moment" is naturally one of the yardsticks for judgment. However, fashion and retro will always develop and retrospect in a spiral pattern in the passage of time, and then develop again. This time, the famous Japanese flower arrangement artist Azuma Makoto sent his visually stunning flower installation "Fighting Flowers" to the "Innersect Global Trend Culture Experience Exhibition", setting off a selfie trend among the audience. Flower arrangement art belongs to the category of classic aesthetics in the Eastern cultural tradition. Eastxin combines its extremely strong aesthetic form with contemporary visual language, gets rid of the function of traditional small flower static display, integrates the dual concepts of installation art and classical and enters the large-scale exhibition space. Active dialogue with the environmental field completes a spiritual baptism of beauty.

Environmental warriors who design masks to get rid of them

The leading figure of "Sneaker Mask", Chinese artist Wang Zhijun, has revealed his brand-new mask work for the first time in this "Innersect Global Trend Culture Experience Exhibition". The Beijing boy, who originated from a love of long-distance running but suffered from air pollution, started from the basic appeal of solving the problem of "own health" in life, and finally transformed his artistic ideal from collecting and designing sneakers to designing "sneaker masks" in an environmentally conscious career. In an exclusive interview, Wang Zhijun said that when he realized one day that the smog was more serious than the hobby of long-distance running, he hoped that through his creative talents, he could awaken the people around him who were gradually getting used to or even starting to ignore environmental pollution, and actually improve people’s real life. In the absence of any reference cases, Wang Zhijun still insists on independent handmade creation to complete every concept collector’s edition of his design ideas. However, his goal is not limited to this, and mass production and entering the mass market is his real ideal. He hopes that the masks he designs can be like the white or gray masks that people can buy at any time in convenience stores and pharmacies. They are inexpensive, lightweight and durable, but they have a unique and popular aesthetic personality, maintain brand value and recognition, and get rid of the stereotypical image. Driven by this ideal, Wang Zhijun adds the latest "mask" customized version to the sports breathing valve and a replaceable cotton filter element specially designed for PM2.5, and continuously enhances the practical functionality of the product. During the design and development, the breathability of the mask, the support version designed according to the face, ergonomics, and the chemical sensitivity of the mask material have all been gradually perfected in the creation process that he has been constantly researching. Recently, he has begun to break away from his favorite sneaker materials and take the initiative to expand the creation of other environmentally friendly material media to promote the possibility of mass production in the future. Wang Zhijun seriously said that the ultimate goal of designing "masks" is actually to hope that people can get rid of the mask in the near future, end this dilemma of being forced to save themselves, return to the sweet air environment, and restore the appearance of life that can run freely anytime and anywhere. In a cool occasion like the "Innersect Global Trend Culture Experience Exhibition", it is really touching to see such a down-to-earth spark of thought.

When it comes to the fashion trend culture respected by young people, the older generation often produces biased concepts such as "hedonism", "fast consumption", "gold and jade", "extravagance and waste", and even occasional "irresponsible" negative comments. However, in the digital age of rapid technological advancements and instant information sharing, art and technology, aesthetics and functions are being closely embraced and integrated under the strong promotion of the market and hatching benign results. The younger generation’s consumption and creative mentality full of international vision is declaring its maturity to the society and a positive attitude of bravely striving for pure ideals.
